Anthony Martial: This is why I love Man United, I want to satisfy the fans
The Manchester United striker addresses his love for the club
Anthony Martial has spoken of his affection for Manchester United and has underlined his desire to satisfy the club’s supporters.
The France international has endured a tough second season at Old Trafford after the 21-year-old completed a £36m deal from AS Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window.
Martial scored 11 times in 49 games in all competitions under Louis van Gaal last term but has struggled to replicate that form since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as manager.
The former Lyon forward has started a mere 10 games in the Premier League with a further four appearances coming from the bench.
Speaking to his pre-match media conference ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Saint-Etienne in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie, Martial discussed his love for Manchester United.
“I love this club, I love Manchester United, I love the Manchester United fans, they give me a lot of joy and I really enjoy having them backing me. I try to be as good as posiible to make them happy, to satisfy them,” Martial said. “What I want is to stay at this club for as long as possible.”
Martial was part of the Manchester United side that won the FA Cup in his first season at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils can win the first major trophy under Mourinho when Manchester United take on Southampton in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
