Antonio Conte delivers latest update on Diego Costa’s Chelsea future
Antonio Conte says Diego Costa is happy at Chelsea and that the striker is committed to the west London club
Antonio Conte has insisted that Diego Costa is happy at Chelsea and says the striker is likely to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
The Spain international has been in fine form for the Blues this season and has already scored 15 goals in the Premier League to help them build a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
There has been speculation linking Costa with a possible move to China but there has been no official news to confirm the reports.
Costa has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea team under Conte and will be hoping to help fire the Blues to the title in the Italian’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
And Chelsea boss Conte has insisted that he is fully expecting to see Costa stay at Stamford Bridge for a number of years.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Conte said: “Diego is a really important player. The situation is very clear. He’s very happy to stay with us, he’s very happy to fight for the title.
“When asked if the Brazilian born player would stay for quite some time, he answered in the affirmative.
“Yeah I think so. I see him every day and I see his commitment, his behaviour – he’s very involved in the team. I think he loves this club.”
Chelsea are currently gearing up for their Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.
