Antonio Conte has revealed that David Luiz has been playing through a minor knee injury for Chelsea in recent weeks.

The Brazilian defender has been one of the Blues’ standout performers this season following his surprise transfer back to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Luiz has been a regular fixture in the heart of Chelsea’s defence since Conte opted to switch to a 3-4-3 formation at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazil international has been in good form and has already scored one goal in 20 games for the Blues.

However, Conte has revealed that Luiz has been struggling with a minor knee injury in recent weeks.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Conte said: “David Luiz plays with a bit of pain in his knee but he is still performing well.”

Luiz will be hoping to feature for the Blues when Chelsea take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
