Antonio Conte reacts to Cesc Fabregas’ display in Chelsea’s 2-0 win at Wolves
The Chelsea manager was happy with the performances of Cesc Fabregas and John Terry
Antonio Conte expressed his happiness with the performances of Cesc Fabregas and John Terry in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday evening.
Both Fabregas and Terry have struggled to tie down regular starting spots following Conte’s appointment as the west London side’s new manager at the start of the 2016-17 season.
However, the experienced Chelsea duo were given a chance to impress on Saturday afternoon for their trip to Wolverhampton wanderers, who beat Liverpool in round four earlier last month.
Fabregas played a vital role in Conte’s side and dictated their momentum at Molineux as Pedro Rodriguez and Diego Costa scored in the second half of the fifth-round tie.
Chelsea manager Conte delivered his verdict on Fabregas and Terry after the Premier League leaders’s 2-0 win against Wolves.
“They played very well,” Conte said.
“It is not easy when you don’t play a lot, and John and Cesc and all the players showed me they have good form and it means they are good professionals. It is great to have these type of players in my squad because I can count on them.”
Chelsea are eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the title race after a 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out.
The Blues haven’t won the title since 2012.
