Antonio Conte sends honest message to Chelsea fans about Cesc Fabregas
Antonio Conte describes Cesc Fabregas as a "genius" and compares the Spaniard to Andrea Pirlo
Antonio Conte has described Cesc Fabregas as a “genius” and compared the Chelsea midfielder to Italy legend Andrea Pirlo.
It has been something of a frustrating season for Fabregas at Chelsea following Conte’s appointment as the club’s new manager last summer.
Fabregas has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Chelsea first team following the arrival of N’Golo Kante from Leicester last summer.
The Spanish midfielder has, however, impressed when making appearances from the bench for the west London side this term.
Fabregas will be hoping to be involved when Chelsea take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
And despite his lack of playing time for Chelsea this season, Conte has heaped praise on Fabregas for his ability.
Conte is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Cesc is a top player and a genius at football.
“I can talk in the same way about him as about Andrea Pirlo. We are talking genius.
“If Cesc doesn’t run 100 metres in 10 seconds, I can allow him this because of his genius on the ball. Cesc is different; his velocity in his mind.”
Chelsea head into their clash with Burnley flying high at the top of the Premier League table and knowing that a win would move them 12 points clear.
