Bastian Schweinsteiger was quick to remind reporters that he has scored at Old Trafford before after the Manchester United midfielder netted in their 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

The retired Germany international was handed his first starting spot of the 2016-17 season under Jose Mourinho for the visit of the Latics after being previously out-of-favour under the Portuguese coach.

However, Schweinsteiger has shown an impeccable commitment to the Red Devils despite being forced to train with the club’s Under-23 side before returning to the Manchester United fold in November.

And the World Cup winner seized his chance to impress Mourinho as he scored his first Manchester United goal at Old Trafford to complete a 4-0 win against Wigan in the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

However, when Schweinsteiger was asked about his first goal at Old Trafford, the German was quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News:

“No, this is my second goal at Old Trafford. My first was for Bayern Munich.”
