Mark Lawrenson is backing Chelsea to take another step towards winning the Premier League title by beating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Blues have been in superb form in recent weeks and have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

The west London side are currently top of the Premier League table and nine points clear of second placed Tottenham as they bid to win the title in their first season under Antonio Conte.

Chelsea underlined their status as the favourites to win the title last weekend when they thrashed Arsenal 3-1 at Stamford Bridge to all but end the Gunners’ title hopes.

And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is backing Chelsea to claim all three points with a comfortable win over Sean Dyche’s men this weekend.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I am at this game and looking forward to it. We know all about Burnley’s fantastic record at home – only Chelsea and Tottenham have picked up more points on their own patch this season.

“But if there is a team that can deal with the intensity and energy of the Clarets’ play, it is the Blues.

“They have got people who are scrappers in their team, as well as quality players.

“This Chelsea team reminds me of the Arsenal side that won the Double in 1998. They were a really good team who would fight you or play you, whichever you wanted to do – and they would usually win.”

Chelsea’s upturn in form has been in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when they ended up 10th and without a trophy.
