After having led the Blues to the Premier League title in the 2014-15 campaign, Mourinho was sacked in December 2015 with Chelsea languishing closer to the bottom of the table than the top.
Much was made about Chelsea’s dramatic fall from grace last season as they eventually ended up in 10th place in the table and without a trophy following Mourinho’s exit.
However, Fabregas has delivered a fascinating insight into what life was like for the Blues under Mourinho during the Portuguese coach’s second spell back at Chelsea.
Speaking in a revealing YouTube interview with Natacha Tannous, Fabregas said: “It’s always been said, something like that, about Jose – and I don’t agree at all.
“I’ve been inside and part of it. He loves winning and he loves playing well. He will never tell you, like people think he does, ‘you have to defend’ or ‘park the bus’… he never said that. He never trained in this way.
“We always trained with possession of the ball, attacking and playing fluid football.
“Of course, sometimes you are winning and playing a difficult game, and he plays his cards.
“He knows how to deal with every situation and that’s why he is one of the best managers in the world.”
Chelsea are currently flying high under new boss Antonio Conte and are nine points clear at the top of the table ahead of their crunch clash with Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime at Stamford Bridge.
