The controversial Spanish forward has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top forwards since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014.
The Brazilian-born striker never seems to be far away from the headlines but has been in fine form this season and his consistent run in the Chelsea team has helped the Blues move to the top of the Premier League table.
Costa’s future at Chelsea seems to be a relentless source of speculation at the moment.
However, his Spanish team-mate Fabregas has nothing but respect for the striker and considers him to be one of his best friends in the game, as well as one of Europe’s top marksmen.
Fabregas is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Obviously you know Diego has been a very important player for Chelsea and for Atletico Madrid in the last five, six years and he’s been one of the top strikers in the world,” Fabregas told Chelsea TV.
“I have a fantastic connection with him, not just only on the pitch but also off the pitch.
“I consider him my friend, he’s a great guy.
“Also, on the pitch I like to play with winners and he’s definitely one of them.
“Of course, if he is a guy that you understand so well that when you pass him the ball he scores a high percentage of your passes, then fantastic.
“We played against each other in Spain but we didn’t really know each other and I remember on our debuts actually we had our first connection and we scored a goal.”
