Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Swansea
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea's Premier League clash with Swansea on Saturday afternoon
Michael Owen is tipping Chelsea to continue their march towards the Premier League title by securing a comfortable win over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues head into the game looking to continue their strong form under new boss Antonio Conte.
The west London side have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this term, with the Blues currently eight points clear at the top of the table.
Chelsea’s remarkable upturn in form this season has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term, when they ended up 10th in the table and without a trophy following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December 2015.
The Blues host the Swans at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as they bid to take another small step towards winning the title.
And former Liverpool man Owen can’t see anything else but a home victory.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Paul Clement’s Swansea have picked up one more point in 2017 (12) than league leaders Chelsea in 2017 and the Swans’ boss returns to Stamford Bridge with a confident and improving side.
“Clement was, of course, assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011 and should be warmly applauded for the great job he has done at the Liberty Stadium since taking over the reins.
“After the trip to Chelsea, the Swans’ next four games are against Burnley (H), Hull and Bournemouth (A) and Boro (H) and there is an argument that those four games will define their season rather than what happens at the Bridge on Saturday.
“I don’t agree and think Swansea and Clement will give it a real go at his former club although I expect the Blues to keep the points in West London.”
