Gary Neville issues challenge to Anthony Martial at Man United
Gary Neville challenges Anthony Martial to step his game up at Manchester United in the closing weeks of the season
Gary Neville has challenged Anthony Martial to step his game up at Manchester United and develop into a top striker.
The French forward earned plenty of praise for his improved performance on Saturday afternoon as he helped to fire Manchester United to a 2-0 victory over Watford at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
Martial has been in and out of the Manchester United team this season following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
However, the 21-year-old will now be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team from now until the end of the season.
And former Manchester United defender Neville wants to see the French striker step his game up for the Red Devils in the coming weeks and months.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “He did really well. It’s a good start for him in terms of the rest of the season.
“United have got a lot of games, he is going to get football and the fans love him.
“The manager has given him a chance. Go for it. It can be the best club in the world for you to play at and make you into a star.
“I think he has just got to recognise that.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their Europa League last 32 clash against Saint-Etienne on Thursday night.
