Gary Neville makes admission about Chelsea and Liverpool

Gary Neville feels that Chelsea and Liverpool have a significant advantage in the race for the title in the coming weeks

Gary Neville believes that Chelsea and Liverpool will benefit from having “clear minds” in the coming weeks as their Premier League rivals resume their European football campaigns.

The Blues are currently the heavy favourites to win the Premier League title this season after building an eight-point lead at the top of the table in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge.

The west London side, like Liverpool, do not have the distraction of European football this season after their miserable 10th-placed finish in the top flight last term.

Liverpool are only focusing on Premier League affairs between now and the end of the season after the Reds were knocked out of all domestic cup competitions.

And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that will give Chelsea and Liverpool a significant advantage on their title rivals in the coming weeks and months.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “What City have in the next few weeks is confusing.

“They have different cup competitions and Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have the same.

“Chelsea and Liverpool do have that sort of clear mind.”
