Gary Neville: This could ruin Chelsea’s season
Gary Neville says injuries to key players is the only thing that could stop Chelsea's title bid
Gary Neville believes that injuries to key players is the only thing that could stop Chelsea from winning the Premier League title this season.
The Blues have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season after their brilliant start to the campaign under new boss Antonio Conte.
The west London side missed the chance to move 12 points clear at the top of the table last weekend but are still the heavy favourites to win the title this term.
Chelsea’s remarkable upturn in form this season has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term, when they finished 10th and without a trophy.
And Neville feels that the only thing that could end Chelsea’s title bid would be injuries to some of the west London side’s key personnel.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “I don’t think it’s about whether or not Chelsea will drop points.
“They will. But it’s whether the others are capable of putting together potentially the greatest run in Premier League history.
“To win 14 or 13 games on the bounce on the way in, you’re still relying upon Chelsea losing three or four matches and winning 13 and 14 games.
“I don’t think we’ve got the trust in the other teams to do that.
“The fact that Europe is starting again for many other teams as well makes it more difficult.
“Chelsea are strong favourites, it could happen, but Chelsea would have to have injuries to key players.
“That is the one thing that could be a problem to Chelsea.”
Chelsea take on Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round this weekend.
