Gary Neville: This Man United player has massive potential

Gary Neville heaps praise on Anthony Martial and backs him to be a big star at Manchester United

Gary Neville is tipping Anthony Martial to step his game up for Manchester United and fulfil his huge potential at Old Trafford.

The striker earned plenty of new admirers last season after arriving at the club from Monaco during Louis van Gaal’s spell in charge at Old Trafford.

The French forward hit the ground running and was a regular fixture in the Manchester United first team last season as the Red Devils ended up fifth in the table and won the FA Cup.

Martial has been in and out of the Manchester United team under Jose Mourinho this season but will be hoping to hold down a regular spot between now and the end of the season.

And Neville believes that Martial has the potential to become a top player under Mourinho’s guidance at Old Trafford after his impressive display in the 2-0 win over Watford last weekend.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “What Jose Mourinho has decided to do is challenge these players and say ‘are you good enough to play for this club? Have you got what it takes to go out there and deliver week in and week out?’

“Martial is a huge signing in terms of money and is still very young. However, he is a massive, massive potential talent. He could be anything he wants to be.
