Henrikh Mkhitaryan has heaped praise on Bastian Schweinsteiger following his first taste of working with the World Cup winner at Manchester United.

The veteran midfielder has found his first-team opportunities at Old Trafford to be severely restricted this season under new boss Jose Mourinho.

However, the midfielder made a couple of performances for the Red Devils in the FA Cup in January as he finally got some first-team football under his belt.

Mkhitaryan is currently getting used to life at Old Trafford following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

And the Armenia international has lifted the lid on his thoughts about Schweinsteiger at Manchester United this season.

Mkhitaryan told Bild: “I’m glad he’s getting his chance again.

“He knows exactly what to do on the pitch. I can only report positively about him; he’s got a great character.”

Manchester United are currently gearing up for their Premier League clash against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the table after their 3-0 win over Leicester City in the top flight last weekend.
