Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool to return to winning ways in the Premier League by claiming a 2-0 victory at Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds head into the game on the back of their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday night and searching for their first Premier League win of 2017.

Hull, meanwhile, earned an impressive point when they held Manchester United to a goalless draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Their last victory in the top flight came when they beat Manchester City 1-0 on New Year’s Eve.

And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see the Reds claim all three points against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Hull got a great point at Old Trafford in midweek but this is another very tough game for them.

“After their run of poor form, Liverpool were much improved in their draw against Chelsea and, if Hull open up a bit against them, then they will punish them.”

Jurgen Klopp has been tasked with steering Liverpool back into the top four this season after The Reds ended up in eighth place in the top flight table last term.
