Ian Wright: Why Arsenal can’t blame striker for wanting transfer

The former Arsenal striker admits he feels sorry for Spanish striker Lucas Perez

Ian Wright has insisted that Lucas Perez can’t be blamed for seeking a move away from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The uncapped Spanish forward has struggled to tie down a regular starting spot in the Arsenal side despite his £19m move to the north London club from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners manager turned to Perez in the wake of their 5-1 loss to Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich as Arsene Wenger fielded a strong side for their short trip to Sutton United on Monday night.

And the 28-year-old broke the deadlock in the first half with a low cross before Theo Walcott netted his 100th goal for Arsenal in the second half.

Taking to Twitter to discuss transfer speculation linking Perez with a summer move, ex-Arsenal striker Wright spoke of his pity for the Spanish star.
