Jamie Carragher: This is what’s left for Liverpool this season
Jamie Carragher discusses Liverpool's top-four hopes after their shock 2-0 loss to Hull on Saturday
Jamie Carragher has claimed that finishing in the top four this season would still represent a successful campaign for Liverpool.
The Reds have endured a stuttering start to 2017 after they were knocked out of both cup competitions to leave Jurgen Klopp’s men in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Liverpool suffered another blow to their Champions League ambitions when they slumped to a disappointing 2-0 loss to Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
That result left Klopp’s men a staggering 13 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea as they look to claw their way back into contention in the race for the top four.
Liverpool must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their crunch Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield next weekend.
And former Reds star Carragher has delivered his verdict on what would make a successful season for Liverpool after their loss to Hull.
Carragher told Sky Sports: “Off the back of the cup exits, the only thing left for Liverpool is to qualify for the Champions League.
“If they do, I still think it would make a successful season.
“Liverpool have got the sixth-best squad in the league for me, but I think the quality of the manager puts them where they are.”
