Jose Mourinho delivers blunt update Luke Shaw at Man United
Jose Mourinho confirms that Luke Shaw will not start for Manchester United when the Red Devils play Saint-Etienne
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Luke Shaw will not start for Manchester United when the Red Devils play Saint-Etienne in the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Red Devils head into the game looking to take a step closer toward reaching the last 16 of Europe’s second tier club competition.
Shaw has found his first-team opportunities under Mourinho severely restricted this season following Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
The former Southampton defender has been limited to just seven Premier League appearances so far this term after struggling to break into the first team.
And Mourinho has confirmed that Shaw will not feature from the start when Manchester United play Saint-Etienne on Thursday night.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Carrington on Wednesday afternoon, Mourinho said: “He [Shaw] is not playing tomorrow because my team is playing well.
“I’m happy with my back four and I’m going to repeat: Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Daley Blind.”
Manchester United head into their clash with the Ligue 1 side in sixth place in the Premier League table after their 2-0 win over Watford last weekend.
