Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United fans about Juan Mata

Jose Mourinho praises Juan Mata for adapting his style of play at Manchester United this season

Jose Mourinho has praised Juan Mata for adapting to his style of play at Manchester United and insists that the Spaniard was never in danger of being sold by the Red Devils.

There had been speculation about Mata’s situation at Manchester United after Mourinho was appointed as the Red Devils’ new manager back in May.

Mourinho was the man who deemed Mata to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea before he was sold to Manchester United in January 2014.

However, Mata has proved those doubters wrong and has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United team this season under Mourinho.

And Mourinho has been delighted with the impact Mata has had at Manchester United this season following the Portuguese coach’s appointment at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail: “When I came here people thought Mata was in trouble but I knew he wouldn’t be in trouble.

“One thing was the football I wanted my Chelsea to play and the other thing I want my Manchester United to play.

“Mata has adapted to the football I want to play. I knew since the beginning he would be an important player.

“I think he feels that confidence in me, that confidence in the game we want to try to play. So he is happy. He is happy on the pitch and you can see it the way he plays.”

Mata scored Manchester United’s opening goal in their 2-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
