Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United supporters about Paul Pogba
Jose Mourinho discusses Paul Pogba's price-tag and the effect it has had on the Manchester United midfielder
Jose Mourinho believes that Paul Pogba has found himself under more scrutiny than any other player at Manchester United because of his hefty price-tag.
The French midfielder is currently getting used to life back at Old Trafford following his move to Manchester United from Juventus last summer.
Pogba returned to Manchester United in a world-record £89m transfer deal as Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his squad following his appointment at Old Trafford.
However, the Manchester United manager feels that his huge price-tag has inevitably left to Pogba facing more scrutiny than his team-mates this season.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Blackburn in the FA Cup, Mourinho told The Daily Express: “He has phenomenal conditions but I think the scrutiny on him is hard.
“When he plays very, very well, which he does many, many times, people think it is normal, yet when he has a game when he is not so happy and he doesn’t perform so well, pundits and even supporters go strong on him.
“But that’s the price of his price.”
Manchester United are looking to break back into the top four this season after the Red Devils’ fifth placed finish last term.
Mourinho’s men are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they bid to climb into the top four.
