The Manchester United goalkeeper has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top shot-stoppers at Old Trafford since his move to the club from Atletico Madrid back in June 2011.
There continues to be speculation linking the Spain international with a possible return to his native homeland to join Real Madrid.
Mata says he has not spoken to De Gea about the speculation but insists that his team-mate is completely relaxed at Old Trafford.
Mata told Cadena SER: “David is a veteran here already, been here many years.
“Everyone recognises his contribution to the team.
“More rumours have come out? If we are just in February, imagine until June, July, August … I did not know that it had come out again.
“He had a hectic summer before.
“I’ve not spoken to him about this at all.
“He is relaxed here, and with too much to think about for the rest of the season, without thinking about the summer.”
Mata and De Gea will both be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Watford in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table and 14 points behind leaders Chelsea.
