Juan Mata speaks out about David De Gea’s Man United future

Juan Mata delivers the latest update on the speculation linking David De Gea with a transfer to Real Madrid

Juan Mata has insisted that David De Gea is “relaxed” at Manchester United and is not paying any attention to the speculation linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top shot-stoppers at Old Trafford since his move to the club from Atletico Madrid back in June 2011.

There continues to be speculation linking the Spain international with a possible return to his native homeland to join Real Madrid.

Mata says he has not spoken to De Gea about the speculation but insists that his team-mate is completely relaxed at Old Trafford.

Mata told Cadena SER: “David is a veteran here already, been here many years.

“Everyone recognises his contribution to the team.

“More rumours have come out? If we are just in February, imagine until June, July, August … I did not know that it had come out again.

“He had a hectic summer before.

“I’ve not spoken to him about this at all.

“He is relaxed here, and with too much to think about for the rest of the season, without thinking about the summer.”
