Jurgen Klopp reacts to Chelsea’s win over Arsenal
Jurgen Klopp has his say after Chelsea's impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday
Jurgen Klopp moved to play down the significance of Chelsea’s impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday afternoon and instead insisted that he was only focused on his own Liverpool team.
The Blues were in impressive form against their bitter local rivals as goals from Marcos Alonso, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas allowed Chelsea to take a step closer towards winning the Premier League title.
Chelsea have established themselves as the firm favourites to lifting the trophy in May and drew 1-1 with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side last week at Anfield.
Klopp was asked about the Chelsea result just before Liverpool kicked off against Hull City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
And the German coach offered the following update for Liverpool fans regarding the race to catch Chelsea in the race for the title.
Klopp is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “If our only aim was to get Chelsea then at a specific point of the season maybe when they are 10 points ahead with three games left of the season then we stop playing football because we can’t get them anymore.
“It makes sense to look at ourselves and get what you can get and collect points.
“I just want to win football games because we don’t have to think about the games at the moment, we have to think about Hull and they had quite an impressive run in January.”
Liverpool are aiming to break back into the top four this season after they finished eighth last term.
