Jurgen Klopp responds after Man United boss Jose Mourinho’s comments
Jurgen Klopp has his say on his behaviour on the sidelines following Jose Mourinho's recent comments about him
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he does not know why Jose Mourinho chose to reference him in his post-match interview after Manchester United’s goalless draw with Hull City.
The Portuguese coach was clearly frustrated at his side’s inability to win the game at Old Trafford as Manchester United were held to their third successive Premier League draw to leave them in sixth place.
Mourinho suggested that the likes of Klopp are given an easier time for the their behaviour on the sidelines.
And Reds boss Klopp admits that becoming emotional on the touchline is part and parcel of being a top-flight manager.
Speaking at a news conference at Melwood on Thursday afternoon, Liverpool manager Klopp said: “There are different ways to handle the situation. It’s quite an emotional game and to switch off emotions at the right moment is not that simple.
“We struggle, not only myself or Jose but even Arsene Wenger struggles and a lot of other people struggle in moments like this.
“Sometimes we get a fine and sometimes not. It’s not that we want to do it or it’s a tactic. It happens.
“It was worse with me actually when I was younger. I have already improved. I have no idea why he (Mourinho) spoke about me then – you have to ask him.”
Liverpool are currently gearing up for their Premier League trip to Hull City on Saturday afternoon while, Manchester United will bid to return to winning ways when they take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
