Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp talks up Ajax teenager
Jurgen Klopp reveals that he is a keen admirer of Ajax youngster Kasper Dolberg, who has been linked with Manchester United
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is a keen admirer of young Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg, comments which could spark speculation linking Liverpool with a summer move for the teenager.
The 19-year-old striker has caught the eye with his impressive performances this season, with the teenager having scored 10 goals in 22 league games for the Dutch club this term.
Dolberg’s recent rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed in the Premier League, and Manchester United and Manchester City have recently been linked with a bid for the youngster.
However, Liverpool could also be interested in signing the striker, if Klopp’s recent comments about the player are anything to go by.
Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Klopp said: “Who doesn’t know Kasper Dolberg?
“You can not play in Ajax, without being noticed it. Kasper Dolberg has a very great future. He is a fantastic player.
“I love the Danish players. I had Leon Andreasen in Mainz. He was a monster. I also have fond memories of Bo Svensson and Mohamed Zidan, he is probably half Danish, because he is married to a Dane…
“I really like Danish players. They have a good attitude and a strong mentality.”
Liverpool are currently gearing up for their crunch Premier League clash against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
The Reds are fifth in the table as they bid to secure Champions League qualification in Klopp’s first full season at Anfield.
