Jason McAteer has warned Liverpool that they will have their work cut out in keeping Harry Kane and Dele Alli quiet when Tottenham travel to Anfield on Saturday night.

The Reds head into the game after having made a disastrous start to the year under new boss Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool slipped to a damaging 2-0 loss to Hull City in the Premier League last weekend and are yet to win a game in the top flight since the turn of the year.

Their miserable recent form has caused them to slip down to fifth place in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea in the race for the title.

Liverpool will be aiming to get back to winning ways this weekend but face a stern examination of their credentials when they take on Tottenham at Anfield this weekend.

And McAteer has pointed towards Kane and Alli as Spurs’ danger-men at Anfield ahead of this weekend’s showdown on Merseyside.

McAteer told 888sport: “It’s going to be very tough with the movement of Dele Alli and the form Harry Kane is in.

“The flip side of that is that Liverpool’s best performances come against sides in the top six who play expansive football and believe in their own philosophy and don’t feel the need to change. That offers Liverpool a bit of space because the opposition is trying to exploit them.

“It’s still going to be tough though containing them two in particular.”
