Paul Merson is tipping Liverpool to hold Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday night.

The Reds head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League following their disastrous start to the new year under Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea after a dramatic dip in form in recent weeks.

Indeed, Liverpool are yet to win a Premier League game in 2017 as they bid to break back into the top four in Klopp’s first full season in charge.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been in good form in recent weeks and are currently Chelsea’s closest challengers for the title.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently second and nine points behind the leaders.

However, former Arsenal man Merson is tipping the Reds and the Lilywhites to share the spoils on Merseyside on Saturday evening.

Merson told Sky Sports: “This is a big game for both these sides’ respective seasons. Liverpool are out of the title race now and they’ve done an Arsenal, going out of everything in the space of two weeks.

“If they’re not careful they could be out of the race for the top four – they have to win!

“A Tottenham defeat would more or less hand the title to Chelsea but could put Spurs’ own aspirations at risk. If they lose and the other teams win, all of a sudden they’re in a battle for the top four.

“It can change that quickly. Liverpool have to win and Tottenham have to make sure they don’t lose, with that in mind I see Spurs denting Liverpool’s season further.”
