Man United close to agreement for first summer signing – report
Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement to sign Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window, say reports
Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Yahoo Sport are reporting that the Red Devils believe themselves to be leading the race to sign the France international as Jose Mourinho ponders bolstering his squad in the summer months.
The same report claims that initial talks to sign the 25-year-old forward are at a more advanced stage than previously predicted.
The story goes on to explain that Manchester United may have to go close to breaking the world record transfer fee of £89m they paid to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer to bring Griezmann to Old Trafford this year.
Manchester United were one of the Premier League’s biggest spending teams last summer as they brought the likes of Pogba and Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League and head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in sixth place and 14 points behind leaders Chelsea.
