Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Man United v Hull
The former Liverpool defender is confident Manchester United will continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League
Mark Lawrenson admits he can’t see Hull City stopping Manchester United in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Tigers sprung a surprise last week after Marco Silva’s side were 2-1 winners against Manchester United in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at KCOM Stadium thanks to goals from Tom Huddlestone and Oumar Niasse.
However, the 20-time English champions still managed to progress to the semi-finals of the competitions thanks to their 3-2 aggregate win after a 2-0 win at Old Trafford in the first leg a fortnight earlier.
Manchester United returned to winning ways in the FA Cup at the weekend after goals from Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Bastian Schweinsteiger in a 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford.
Speaking to BBC Sport about Manchester United’s home clash against Hull, the ex-Liverpool defender admitted that he can only see one winner.
“United got past Hull over two legs to reach the final of the EFL Cup and I can’t see the Tigers stopping them here,” Lawrenson said.
“It seems a long time since United had some poor results in the autumn, with Jose Mourinho seemingly unsure of his best team.
“Slowly but surely it has all come together for them. United always had the quality, but now they have settled down as a team.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
