Paul Merson states prediction for Man United v Hull
Paul Merson doesn't expect Manchester United to lose to Hull City for the second time in a week
Paul Merson is confident that Manchester United will have too much for Hull City when the two clubs meet in a repeat of the EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
The Tigers were surprise 2-1 winners against the Red Devils in the second leg of their last-four clash but Manchester United progressed on away goals.
Mourinho’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League since a 4-0 loss to leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October.
The 20-time English champions were 4-0 winners against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday after goals from Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Bastain Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the clash at Old Trafford, former Arsenal midfielder Merson played down the chances of a repeat of last week’s result at KCOM.
“Hull are playing well under Marco Silva but I United cannot go against at Old Trafford. I know Hull beat them in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg but United played like a team that were two goals up,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They beat Hull convincingly in the first leg and I see them repeating the feat on Wednesday to maintain Jose Mourinho’s “unbeaten” run!”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table but six points behind leaders Chelsea with 16 games to play.
The Red Devils finished in fifth place last term.
