Marcos Alonso: Chelsea’s players have been doing this once a month
Marcos Alonso reveals that Chelsea's players have been enjoying regular dinners out together this season
Marcos Alonso has revealed that Chelsea’s players have been going out to dinner with each other once a month to help forge a bond between them.
Antonio Conte’s men have been the Premier League’s standout team this season and are currently the heavy favourites to win the top-flight title this term.
Chelsea are flying high at the top of the table and are currently eight points clear of nearest challengers Manchester City.
The west London side’s dramatic upturn in form this season has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term, when they finished 10th and without a trophy.
Alonso has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea side since his move from Fiorentina last summer and the Spaniard has lifted the lid on how regular team-bonding meals have helped boost morale at the club.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Alonso said: “We have been going out for dinner once a month all together as a group, just enjoying each other’s company off the pitch as well.
“It’s been a great help and the atmosphere within the squad is amazing. You can see that when we’re on the pitch.
“It’s organised by the manager and the captain and it’s good fun for everyone.”
Chelsea take on Wolves in the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend.
