Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Fulham v Tottenham
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Tottenham's clash with Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Fulham to hold Tottenham to a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s FA Cup clash at Craven Cottage.
Spurs head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-0 loss to Gent in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 clash on Thursday night.
Tottenham were also beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend after a disappointing few days for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The Lilywhites will bid to get their season back on track when they take on their London rivals at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
However, former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see Spurs be held to a 1-1 draw in London on Sunday.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Fulham are one of the most attractive teams to watch in the Championship. There is a lot of talk of 16-year-old left-back Ryan Sessegnon, who is an outstanding prospect, but Tom Cairney in midfield is a very good player.
“In Slavisa Jokanovic, the former Watford boss, they have a manager who really should still be in the Premier League as well.
“We are not quite sure what sort of team Tottenham will put out. They included Harry Kane, Dele Alli and other first-choice players from the start against Gent in the Europa League on Thursday night which might be a factor.
“I think Tottenham might struggle to get the job done at Craven Cottage, but I think they will come through a replay back at White Hart Lane.”
Pochettino’s Tottenham side finished third in the Premier League table last season and are currently third in the top flight table this term.
