Midfielder: This is what Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool players ahead of Leicester clash
Kevin Stewart reveals Jurgen Klopp's advice for his Liverpool team-mates ahead of their run-in
Jurgen Klopp wants his Liverpool players to remain positive even during tough times as the Reds look to secure a place in the Champions League, Kevin Stewart has revealed.
The Merseyside outfit made a disappointing start to 2017 despite finishing last year on a high with a 1-0 win against title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.
Liverpool failed to win their opening five games of the calendar year before a 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on the red half of Merseyside last time out.
Sadio Mane scored twice in the first half to secure three points against Spurs and boost their top-four hopes after falling out of contention in the title race.
Liverpool will make the trip to Leicester City in their next Premier League game at King Power Stadium on Monday night.
Speaking to Liverpool’s website about their run-in in the race for a top-four finish, Stewart said:
“[He said] just to really continue what we’re doing and, when we go through bad times, not get too down [and] realise what’s gone wrong and fix it.
“[He told] everyone [to] stick together, keep pushing.
“We know that we’ve got the ability and everything we need to achieve what we want to achieve – it’s just how we want to do it and when.”
Liverpool are in fifth place in the Premier League table with 13 games to play.
