N’Golo Kante has admitted that he is getting used to a new role in the Chelsea team following his transfer from Leicester City last summer but insists that he is enjoying it.
Kante has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea team so far this season and has made 22 Premier League starts for the Blues so far this season to help the west London side establish themselves as the favourites to win the title.
The French midfielder earned plenty of new admirers for his solid performances for Leicester last season as he helped Claudio Ranieri’s men win the top flight title.
And Kante has carried that form into this term to help Chelsea top the Premier League table under new boss Antonio Conte.
The Italian coach switched Chelsea to a 3-4-3 formation earlier in the season and Kante has explained his role in the Blues team this season.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website before Tuesday’s clash with Liverpool, Kante said: “At Leicester, the plan was to stay compact and to go forward with the ball when we counter-attacked.
“At Chelsea we play in a different formation.
“The way I play here is to protect the back three, to control the balance of the game from midfield, and to find the attacking players in the team with my passing.
“I am happy in this position and with the way I am playing it.”
