Owen Hargreaves delivers verdict on Chelsea v Man United draw in FA Cup
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves pits Jose Mourinho's side against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final draw
Owen Hargreaves admitted that he had risked the wrath of the Manchester United supporters after pitting his former club against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Red Devils eased into the last eight of the competition after Jose Mourinho’s side came from behind to seal 2-1 win against Championship strugglers Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round.
Marcus Rashford cancelled out Danny Graham’s opener before half-time and then Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his goal-scoring run with the winner from the bench with 15 minutes remaining at Ewood Park.
Former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves and ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton were charged with pulling the balls from the hat to decide the quarter-final draw after the holders’s close-fought win.
And Mourinho’s side were pitted against the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge in the last eight of the FA Cup.
Speaking to BT Sport in the aftermath of an enthralling draw, Hargreaves acknowledged that the Manchester United fans might not be best pleased with the last-eight draw.
“Manchester United fans won’t be happy with me for that draw. It will be a magnificent game. It is going to be something special,” Hargreaves said.
Manchester United lost 4-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League earlier this season.
