Paul Merson predicts where Chelsea will finish this season

Paul Merson is tipping Chelsea to be crowned Premier League champions this season...

Paul Merson is backing Chelsea to win the Premier League title at a canter this season.

The Blues have been the Premier League’s most consistent team this season and are the heavy favourites to lift the top-flight crown in May.

Chelsea’s remarkable upturn in form under new boss Antonio Conte has been in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when they ended up in 10th place int he Premier League table and without a trophy.

The west London side are currently top of the Premier League table as Conte bids to steer the Blues to the title in his first campaign in charge.

And former Arsenal man Merson feels that this season’s title race is already a forgone conclusion.

Writing in his column for The Daily Star before Chelsea’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday, Merson said: “They’re a machine, and I think they will win the title. I think it’s already over.

“Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle are the only team to blow a lead this big at this stage of the season. But that team was erratic, gung-ho.

“This is an efficient football team. They are not going to get involved in a 4-3 shoot-out.

“I can’t see how they lose the title from here.”
