Paul Scholes makes Man United prediction about Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Paul Scholes reckons that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be rested for Manchester United's trip to Saint-Etienne
Paul Scholes believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be rested for the return leg of Manchester United’s Europa League clash against Saint-Etienne next week following his hat-trick heroics on Thursday night.
The 35-year-old striker scored his first hat-trick for the Red Devils on Thursday as Manchester United took a big step towards reaching the last 16 of Europe’s second tier club competition.
Ibrahimovic has been in fine form for the Red Devils since his move to the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
The veteran forward has been a regular fixture in the first team and has already scored more than 20 goals this term.
It remains to be seen whether the striker will feature for Manchester United in their FA Cup clash against Blackburn on Sunday afternoon.
However, former Manchester United midfielder Scholes feels that the forward is likely to be left out for the return leg of the European clash in France next week.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Scholes said: “I think Zlatan will be left at home next week. There is no reason for him to travel.
“He can be rested for the big game on Sunday [week against Southampton in the EFL Cup final].”
