Paul Scholes reacts to Chelsea v Man United in FA Cup quarter-final draw
Paul Scholes gives his thoughts on Manchester United's FA Cup draw against Chelsea for a place in the last four
Paul Scholes has welcomed Manchester United’s quarter-final draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea in the FA Cup.
The Red Devils came from behind to ease to a 2-1 win against Blackburn in the fifth round at Ewood Park on Sunday evening as the holders look to retain their crown after a 2-1 extra-time win against Crystal Palace at Wembley under Louis van Gaal last term.
Marcus Rashford cancelled out Danny Graham’s opener in the 28th minute after Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s superb assist before Zlatan Ibrahimovic came off the bench to score a winner with 15 minutes remaining against the struggling Championship side.
Jose Mourinho’s side were rewarded for their 2-1 win with a quarter-final clash against Chelsea after the Premier League leaders eased to a straightforward 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.
Speaking to BT Sport after the quarter-final draw was made, Scholes embraced the challenge that Manchester United are facing to retain their FA Cup crown.
“Great game. They are two of the best teams in the Premier League at the minute. Ok, the league position doesn’t suggest that for Manchester United but they’re playing really well right now. They’re creating lots of chances,” Scholes said.
“If you’re going to win this cup, you’ve got to beat the big boys at some point.”
Manchester United lost 4-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League earlier this season.
