Paul Scholes tells Jose Mourinho to sign up this Man United player now
Paul Scholes urges Jose Mourinho to sign Michael Carrick to a new contract at Manchester United
Paul Scholes has urged Jose Mourinho to offer Michael Carrick another season-long deal at Manchester United.
The veteran defender has been solid performer in the first team at Old Trafford this season after being handed a fresh one-year contract following Mourinho’s appointment last summer.
The 35-year-old has started 10 Premier League games for Manchester United so far this season to help the Red Devils up to sixth place in the table.
His current contract is set to expire in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered another deal at the club.
However, Scholes admits that he is hoping Carrick will be able to play on for another year at Manchester United.
Speaking in an interview with Republik of Mancunia, Scholes said: “I hope he’ll get another year.
“He’s been a sensational player for this club.
“He doesn’t always get the praise that he deserves really because of the job he does, but the job he does is appreciated so much by the players around him.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday afternoon as they bid to take a step closer towards retaining the trophy.
