Paul Scholes tells Man United to make this signing
Paul Scholes suggests that Toni Kroos could be the ideal long-term replacement for Michael Carrick at Manchester United
Paul Scholes has suggested that Toni Kroos could be the perfect long-term replacement for Michael Carrick in Manchester United’s midfield.
Carrick has earned plenty of praise for his performances in central midfield for Manchester United this season under new boss Jose Mourinho.
However, it remains to be seen how much longer Carrick can keep performing for Manchester United as he nears the end of his playing career.
And Scholes feels that a player such as Kroos would be the perfect replacement for Carrick when the Englishman does leave Old Trafford.
Speaking to Republik of Mancunia, Scholes said: “I think we might have to buy somebody.
“A Toni Kroos, or somebody like that, who plays his position really well, knows his position, controls a game of football, doesn’t stray too far from his position.
“I think Kroos would be ideal. Whether we can get him or not, I don’t know, whether they want him, I don’t know. But Michael will be a big miss.”
Carrick will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table as they look to break into the top four in Mourinho’s first season in charge at the club.
