Paul Scholes: What I really like about this Man United partnership
The former Manchester United midfielder was impressed with the connection between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba at Blackburn
Paul Scholes has explained why he is a big fan of the flourishing partnership between Manchester United duo Zlatan Ibrahmovic and Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils eased into the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday evening thanks to a 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round at Ewood Park.
Former Swansea striker Danny Graham broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 16th minute before Henrikh Mkhitaryan teed up Marcus Rashford to level the cup tie ahead of half-time.
Jose Mourinho turned to Ibrahimovic and Pogba on the bench with 30 minutes remaining and the two summer signings combined to score a vital winner for the visitors in the 75th minute.
The France international found the 35-year-old with an incisive pass before the 35-year-old netted his fourth goal in two games.
Speaking to BT Sport after the Red Devils’s 2-1 win against Rovers, ex-Manchester United midfielder Scholes singled out Ibrahimovic and Pogba for special praise.
“I love this [between Ibrahimovic and Pogba],” Scholes said. “As a midfield player, you need to have a link with your centre-forward. You don’t need to speak sometimes it is just a little look. It was a great piece of movement and what a finish as well. It is a difficult technique when you’re leaning back.”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League.
