Georginio Wijnaldum couldn’t hide his disappointment on Instagram after Liverpool could only secure a point from their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The Netherlands international scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out David Luiz’s free-kick in the 24th minute but the hosts were unable to find a winner to close the gap on Chelsea.

Roberto Firmino wasted opportunities to nudge Liverpool into a slender lead in the second half but the Brazilian blasted over from close range before he headed straight at Thibaut Courtois.

Liverpool’s stalemate leaves the Reds in fourth place and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, while Antonio Conte’s side moved nine points clear after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat by Watford.

Wijnaldum posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“We have worked hard and played well, but despite that we earned just one point. #ynwa 🔴⚽️”

Liverpool will make the trip to Premier League strugglers Hull City in their next top-flight fixture on Saturday afternoon.
