The Arsenal midfielder is prepared to train hard in his new boots as Granit Xhaka looks to stay sharp during his suspension
Granit Xhaka has made a vow on Instagram to train hard in a bid to stay sharp during the Arsenal midfielder’s suspension.
The Switzerland international earned a four-game ban after the defensive midfielder received a straight red card following a two-footed challenge during Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 win against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium in January.
Xhaka missed Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over EFL Cup finalists Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed in a central midfield role in the absence of the summer signing.
The 23-year-old moved to Arsenal in a £33m deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looked to add more steel to the spine of his Gunners side.
And Xhaka posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption: “Just laced up the new @underarmouruk ClutchFit 3.0. Time to put them to use and train hard. #IWILL#GX29”
Arsenal will make the trip to non league Sutton United in the FA Cup fifth round.
The Gunners won the competition in 2014 and 2015.
