The Manchester United midfielder is clearly disappointed to suffer a hamstring injury which could rule him out of EFL Cup final

Henrikh Mkhitaryan couldn’t hide his disappointment after the Manchester United midfielder suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday evening’s 1-0 win at Saint-Etienne.

The summer signing has been in excellent form for the Red Devils in recent weeks and Mkhitaryan received plenty of praise for his superb assist for Marcus Rashford in Manchester United’s 2-1 win at Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday afternoon.

And the Armenia international continued his rich vein of form in the second leg of Manchester United’s last-32 tie with Saint-Etienne in Europa League after he broke the deadlock in the 16th minute in France with a deft finish.

However, the 28-year-old was forced off minutes later after the summer signing suffered a suspected hamstring injury ahead of Sunday’s clash against Southampton in the League Cup final at Wembley.

And Mkhitaryan couldn’t hide his disappointment at his injury setback ahead of the EFL Cup showpiece as he posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Back in the country where I spent an important part of my childhood. So happy to have scored tonight…but so sad to have left the pitch that early…fingers crossed! #mufc #uefa #europaleague #mickimagic”
