Jamie Carragher has taken to social media to wish Frank Lampard all the best after the Chelsea legend announced his retirement from football on Thursday.

The 38-year-old confirmed that he would be hanging up his playing boots this week after the speculation surrounding his future.

Lampard retires as Chelsea’s all-time top goal-scorer and having won a host of major trophies with the Blues.

And Liverpool legend Carragher was quick to congratulate Lampard on his glittering career after the news of his retirement broke on Thursday morning.

Carragher shared the photo above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Well done to @franklampard on a fantastic career. ⚽️🏆”

Lampard’s old team Chelsea are currently gearing up for their Premier League showdown with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime.
