Jose Mourinho has taken to Instagram to dedicate a birthday message to his son after Manchester United played out a goalless draw with Premier League strugglers Hull City on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils had the chance to make up ground on the Premier League’s top four after Liverpool drew 1-1 with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were held to a goalless stalemate at Sunderland on Tuesday night.

Arsenal lost 2-1 to Watford at the Emirates Stadium to surrender the chance to move to within six points of leaders.

Manchester United have failed to beat Hull in their last two meetings over the past fortnight after a 2-1 defeat was followed by a 0-0 draw with the Tigers.

The Red Devils boss looked to forget about a disappointing result as he posted the above photo with his son on his Instagram page from during his spell in charge of Real Madrid and wrote the following caption:

“You are still my litle boy….but i don’t have to tie your shoelaces anymore.2/2/2000❤️🎈🎉🍾🎂HAPPY 17 th”
