Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to express his delight at returning to training with Manchester United ahead of Wednesday night’s Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne.

The England star missed out over the weekend after he was not included in the Manchester United team who beat Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup on Sunday due to a minor injury problem.

However, the striker was put through his paces with the rest of the Manchester United squad on Thursday morning as Jose Mourinho’s men prepared to jet off to France for their European clash.

It remains to be seen whether Rooney will feature during the game but it is safe to say that he was pleased to be back in action on the training pitches.

Rooney posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Great to be back training with the lads 😀🏃🏻”
