The Liverpool legend has returned to his boyhood club after hanging up his playing boots last year as he embarks on his own coaching career.

Gerrard looked to be comfortable on the pitches after taking up a full-time role at the Kirkby youth complex, where he will be involved in the professional development phase of the young players.

The former Liverpool captain will work under the guidance of Academy director Alex Inglethorpe at the club.

Here are some of the best pictures after Gerrard made his return to the training pitches.
