Pundit claims Arsenal haven’t made progress in five years despite Ozil, Sanchez signings
Danny Mills delivers a damning verdict on Arsenal's progress over the past five years
Danny Mills has claimed that Arsenal haven’t made no progress in the past five years despite the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners missed out on the chance to move to within six points of leaders Chelsea on Tuesday night after Arsenal succumbed to a 2-1 loss to struggling Watford at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal’s title rivals Chelsea could only manage a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield but Antonio Conte’s side moved nine points clear of the Gunners thanks to their valuable point.
The Gunners will make the short trip across London to face the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in search of a morale-boosting win.
Former Manchester City defender Mills was damning in his assessment of Wenger’s squad after their latest setback.
“Arsenal have start players and great quality, but they haven’t really improved over the last five years,” Mills told BBC Sport during their Premier League coverage.
“Their title challenge is now over, and Arsenal are probably happy that the transfer window is closing, because would players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez want to stay when they can’t win the league?”
Arsenal have lost to Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and Watford in the Premier League this season.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League crown since 2003-04 when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira inspired Arsenal to glory.
