Matt Le Tissier is not expecting to see Liverpool or Arsenal finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

Both clubs have endured stuttering starts to 2017 and have fallen way off the pace in the race for the Premier League title.

Arsenal have suffered back to back defeats in the top flight to leave Arsene Wenger’s men in fourth place in the table and 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have also suffered a dramatic dip in form since the turn of the year, with Jurgen Klopp’s men yet to win a game in 2017.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the table and 13 points behind the leaders as they bid to claw their way back into contention for Champions League qualification.

However, former Southampton star Le Tissier feels that the Reds are unlikely to be able to finish in the top four this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Le Tissier said: “Liverpool just seem to have run out of ideas in the final third. Teams have worked them out, which Liverpool need to adjust to again and find a different form of attacking.

“As for Arsenal, I think when you lose at home to Watford, who had only played 48 hours earlier, there’s a sign that something isn’t right there and they weren’t in the same league as Chelsea.”
